Education:

B.S., Horticulture; Landscaping Contracting Option – Virginia Tech

Work Experience:

I have spent nearly my whole life working in various corners of the green industry, from farming trees to production of organic fruits and vegetables, working as a landscape manager and private contractor of residential and commercial properties as well as in public gardens and estates, and working in turf management of NCAA athletic fields.

In 2013, I entered the world of greenhouse growing in Hampton Roads. As a Production Manager, I oversaw a year-round, florist quality, retail program consisting of numerous ornamental and edible plant varieties in over an acre of indoor, climate controlled production space.

It was during my time in the greenhouse that I began working with local schools, 4-H and Master Gardener groups to educate the community about the benefits of plants and growing, most notably about the positive impacts this knowledge can have on our food and education systems. It was at this point that I chose Extension as a career path, allowing me to focus on community education and outreach full time.
